Adopted Indian boy missing after falling into Melbourne RiverAugust 9th, 2008 - 6:49 pm ICT by ANI
Melbourne, Aug.9 (ANI): An adopted Indian boy has been reported missing after falling into Melbournes Yarra River.
A Herald Sun report said that Victoria Police are hoping that the missing nine-year-old Yadav Munohur is still alive after failing to find him in an extensive search of the Yarra River and its surrounds in Hawthorn.
Munohur has not been seen since he pleaded with his mother to be allowed to go and play in Kooyong Park Thursday evening.
When she refused, the grade 4 student ran from the family’’s Hawthorn apartment, and has not been seen since.
Police initially feared he had drowned in nearby Gardiners Creek, which was running at a depth of more than two metres after heavy rain late on Thursday night.
The focus of the search has now shifted to transport networks, shopping centres and nearby schools and buildings.
Yadav was born in India and grew up in an orphanage before being adopted by the Munohurs, who migrated from Mauritius just four months ago.
His father, Kailash, said the family were living a nightmare. (ANI)
