Adam Yauch, one of the members of the popular group Beastie Boys announced on Monday, through a home made video placed without fan fare on the band’s website, that he would be receiving treatment for cancer. According to the reports, as Adam will be undergoing a treatment, the band will supposedly cancel its upcoming tours and may push back the release date of their new album, which is pending down the line.
Adam did not give any specifics of the veteran hip-hop group’s plans regarding in the 3 minute 27 second video. Its next scheduled appearance will be supposedly at the “All Points West Festival” in Jersey City on July 31.
Mr. Yauch had reportedly said in the video, which had probably been recorded in a small recording studio, that he began to feel a small lump on his throat at about two months ago and that the doctors had recently discovered cancer in his parotid gland and lymph node. “This is something that’s very treatable and in most cases it’s, um, they are able to get red of it,” Yauch reportedly said in the video released at the band’s website. He was accompanied with his fellow band mate Adam Horovitz who was sitting just next to Adam, when the video was being shot.
The video was a remarkable one for its frenzied craziness and informality. As it begins, Yauch and Horovitz laughs as the former says ,”This is crazy.” Mr. Horovitz quickly responds by saying, “It’s not funny.” While the mood is very serious, the friends and band mates find themselves laughing at several more times. Eventually after Mr. Yauch had apologized to his fans for the cancellation of the shows, Mr. Horovitz looks into the camera and says,”We will see you.”
