adam1Nov. 26, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The controversy that Adam Lambert had struck up, thanks to his performance in the American Music Awards, continues to this day, almost a week after the awards took place. His performance, that was touted variously, ranging from “sexy” to “outrageous”, was taped on video and ever since has become the topic of teacup controversy. His performance was termed as “simulating”, probably missing out on the “T”, given that he appeared in leather and brandished a whip, and even went so far as to kiss a male guitarist on stage.

It was this last aspect of the performance that created all the controversy. CBS aired the video, but not before they had blurred the kiss. While some feel that they had done the right thing, there are questions as to why this should be done. Specially, keeping in mind that the last time a same sex kiss was aired, it was not blurred. That time, it was Madonna kissing Britney Spears. CBS supported it’s act by saying that they felt it would be better to present a blurred video as they feared some “legal consequences”, considering that the video had been the subject of controversy since it was streamed on YouTube.

Adam Lambert’s video was put on a public poll, asking the viewers if they found it obscene. The poll resulted in an almost 50-50 split. Adam himself refused to go along with the flow and complained of being the target of unfair discrimination on account of his sex, while women have been doing things like this forever. Some of the viewers too, feel the same, specially because he is a gay male.

He did nothing different than the other artists. They need to drop this. Adam is a huge break out star. He is going to change music, culture and society you wait.
