Dec 16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) American actress Thora Birch has been, reportedly, fired from a production of “Dracula”, which is an off-Broadway revival from Bram Stoker’s cult novel “Dracula”. The Broadway officials have released a statement mentioning that Thora Birch is ordered to leave the theater on December 10 as her manager father, Jack Birch, threatened another actor during her rehearsal on December 9. However, Jack Birch has denied all the accusations that has been pitted against him.
The Broadway officials reported that Thora Birch has been replaced by Emily Bridges, who would now play the leading role of Lucy Seward. Katharine Luckinbill will be playing the role of Emily Bridges in the show. The media outlets reported that an unnamed actor was reportedly directed to rub Thora Birch’s back in one of the scenes. However, things took a different turn when the “American Beauty” actress’ father, Jack Birch, objected and claimed that the action was “unnecessary”. Jack Birch denied the whole incident and said that he was not threatening the other actor. The off-Broadway production “Dracula” would have been Thora Birch’s debut on New York stage.
The director of the Broadway show’s director Paul Alexander said that he would not have any actor in such a situation where he is threatened by anyone’s father. Paul Alexander said that Thora Birch was fired because it was breach of protocol to have somebody giving orders, who is not even a crew member. On the other hand, Thora Birch was reportedly “blindsided” by the show manager’s decision. The actress reportedly said that for three weeks she was rehearsing and received praises for her performances. She said that she is presently in a state of shock. Speaking about the incident, the “Ghost World” actress said that it is a kind of misunderstanding.
