Actress Neva Patterson Dies At 90

Neva PattersonDec 17, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Neva Patterson, the actress of the movie “An Affair to Remember,” the Broadway play “The Seven Year Itch” as well as the television miniseries “V,” breathed her last on Tuesday at her home in Brentwood. She was 90. Her death was due to complications from a broken hip, as her daughter Megan Lee said.

The news of the Neva Patterson’s demise has come as a rude shock to all her fans across the nation. During her illustrious career, the veteran actress proved her acting prowess both in movies and on television. The characters she portrayed were most of the time that time brittle, overwrought ladies, who were notoriously glamorous, generally business-oriented, and quite overbearing. After making her debut in the film “Taxi” (1953), Neva Patterson made her presence felt in a good number of movies. Her career in movies and television kicked off during the late 1940s and continued till early 1990s. Though most often she was seen on television, she also acted in a number of major movies, like “David and Lisa”, “Desk Set,” and “The Buddy Holly Story.” Creating the role of Helen Sherman in “The Seven Year Itch” in 1952 on Broadway was a landmark in her career, according to the deceased actress’ daughter.

Neva Patterson’s family said that fan mails kept pouring in expressing their love for the much acclaimed actress. Last month, there were 5 “V” fans who came from France carrying gifts for her and requesting for her autograph. Besides her daughter, Neva Patterson is survived by her son, Filippo Quaretti-Lee, 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
