kyraLos Angeles, Aug 30, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Actress Kyra Sedgwick is definitely on a cloud 9 since she bagged her first Emmy award at the ceremony which took place in Los Angeles’ Nokia Theater on Sunday night. The renowned actress was successful in taking home the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her true to life portrayal of the character of Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson in the hit TNT series “The Closer.”

The Emmy award win must have surely been all the more special for Kyra Sedgwick as she had been nominated in the category every year since 2006 but failed to register the honor each time. However, it seems things turned really lucky for her the fifth time around this year when she was finally announced as the winner in the best lead actress in a drama last night’s gala event. It hardly comes as a surprise that after a long wait of five years when the 45-year-old actress was ultimately earned the highly-regarded honor, she just couldn’t stop smiling as a win at an Emmy awards night is something that she must have always hoped for.

Following her win at the 62nd PrimeTime Emmy Awards, “The Closer” revealed to the media that she really could not believe that finally she had been able to register an Emmy for herself while noting that after being nominated for five years, she had presumed that the honor was something that might not come her way with the role. The actress also looked quite dazzling when she went upstage to collect her award in a Monique Lhuillier gown.
