Actress Kelly McGillis weds girlfriend Melanie Leis

Sep 19 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Actress Kelly McGillis has married her girlfriend Melanie Leis on Wednesday. This is the third marriage for the actress, who was previously married to Fred Tillman. She was also a closet lesbian for a long time, and opened up about her sexuality last year, in a very candid interview with SheWired.com
Kelly first met Leis, when she was a bartender at the restaurant, which was owned by Kelly and her second husband Fred Tillman. Their first meeting took place in 2000 in Key West. During the course of her marriage to Fred Tillman, she also bore him two daughters – Kelsey, 20 years old and Sonora, 17 years old.
Kelly wasn’t very upfront about her sexual preferences earlier, because she wasn’t very comfortable with the effect her revelation would have on her young children. However when they grew up, and also moved out of her house, then she felt that she was ready to announce to the world that she was a lesbian. McGillis said that, “That was one of those moments when somebody asked me a question, my kids had gone from home, so I really didn’t have to protect anyone by skirting the question, and I just decided to be absolutely honest.”
