Actress Helen Wagner Passes Away At 91

wagnerNew York, May 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Helen Wagner, the famous actress who played the role of Nancy Hughes in the soap opera “As the World Turns” died on Saturday. She was 91 years old. The news of the death of the actress was confirmed by TeleNext Media Inc. the New York based production company of the show. However where or how the actress died was not made public by the production house.

Helen Wagner had played the role of the docile Nancy Hughes in “As the World Turns” for more than 50 years. She is known to have spoken the first line of the soap opera and remained a household name for more than five decades. In 2004 she was awarded with the “Lifetime Achievement Award” for her role as Nancy Hughes. The TeleNext Media Inc. which had shared a long relationship with the star said to media sources that Helen Wagner holds the Guinness Book of World Record for playing the same role in a soap opera for 54 years.

Issuing a statement on Sunday, executive producer Christopher Goutman said that the cast and crew of “All the World Turns” are saddened by Helen Wagner’s demise. He added that the actress was loved for her role by generations of fans and although she would be missed by the team of the soap opera, Helen Wagner will always remain “the heart and soul of “As the World Turns”. The details of the actress’ funeral arrangementare also not made public by her family and the production house. The news of the death of the actress has also come as a rude shock to all her fans.
