Actress Denise Darcel dies

Paris, Jan 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) French actress Denise Darcel has died at the age of 87. Her death comes just weeks after one of her sons died in Los Angeles. Darcel is famous for starring in the 1954 movie Vera Cruz alongside other stars like Gary Cooper and Burt Lancaster. The report from BBC failed to state the cause of death.

Born in France, Darcel moved to the United States in 1947. She was handed her first Hollywood role a year later when she appeared in the 1948 movie To The Victor. In the movie, she played the role of a bar singer. The performance propelled her to stardom in the 1950s.

In the 1950s, she appeared in several other movies including Young Man With Ideas, Thunder In The Pines and of course the biggest of them all Vera Cruz. Some other projects that she appeared in include Tarzan, Slave Girl, Battleground and Westward the Women.

On the small screens, Darcel made an appearance in the 1963 series Combat!

Darcel lost her son Craig on the 23rd of December. He died from complications following a procedure to correct a ruptured aneurysm.

She is survived by her only son Chris.
