Actor Urvashi Danokar beats up maid, gets bail
August 22nd, 2009 - 4:03 pm ICT by IBNSMumbai, Aug 22 (IBNS) A city court has granted bail to television actor Urvashi Danokar, who was arrested on Saturday for physically abusing her 10-year-old maid her, on surety of Rs 10,000.
The domestic help accused the actor of torturing her for the past six months at her Andheri residence.
“She (Danokar) threw boiling water on me and punched me repeatedly on face,” the victim said pointing to her bruised swollen eyes and burnt arm.
Even medical reports confirmed that the girl was tortured.
But Danokar’s lawyer said: “My client has been falsely implicated. This is a false case. My client did not torture the girl at all. In fact she was brought to Mumbai because her parents had ill-treated her in Amravati.”
“The girl received the burn marks on her body after she had accidentally immersed her hand into a hot water tub on August 5. Her versions of receiving the burn marks are wrong. Meanwhile, she got the bruises on her eye due to a honey-bee sting. The injury aggravated after the medicines she consumed bore side effects on her,” the lawyer told reporters here.
He, instead, accused the maid for stealing food and not working properly.
The victim said Danokar had brought her from Amravati in eastern Maharashtra, saying she will be sent to school in Mumbai, instead she made the girl work in her house and then burnt her.
