Actor Kevin McCarthy Dies At 96

kevinSep 13, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Actor Kevin McCarthy of the “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” fame died on Saturday aged 96. The veteran Hollywood actor who during his 70-year-old career had made many on screen and stage appearances died of natural causes on Sunday at a Cape Cod, Massachusetts hospital. The news of the death of the actor was reported by a media source as the family of the actor is yet to release a statement.

Kevin McCarthy who made his acting debut as a Broadway actor back in 1930s won the Golden Globe award for his role of Biff Loman back in 1951 film version “Death of a Salesman”. He also won accolades for his performance as Loman in the stage adaptation of the play. Kevin McCarthy was one of the founder members of the famous Actor’s Studio in New York. However, he made his place in the hearts of his fans with his impressive role in the 1956 science fiction movie named “Invasion of the Body Snatchers”. The film that showed him as a doctor trying to warn residents of a California town of a vicious attempt by some malicious people to replace them with emotionless alien clones raised in giant seed pods, won him national and international recognition and fame.

Kevin McCarthy’s acting career that stretched over seven decades saw him appearing in numerous U.S. stage shows, films and other acting projects and his death is not only a loss to the world of Hollywood cinema but also to the world of theater. On Sunday, thousands of Kevin McCarthy fans that include many celebrities as well, took to the web to pay their tribute to Kevin McCarthy.
