Actor John Malkovich In Legal Drama Over Bernie Madoff Fraud

malNew York, Apr 5, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Much acclaimed actor John Malkovich has taken legal actions against the amount that he is supposed to get from the bankruptcy of the jailed Ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff. In a lawsuit that has been filed in a Manhattan bankruptcy court, the attorneys of the reputed actor have expressed their objection about the $670,000 award that the actor was likely to receive and have added that their client us entitled to a whopping $2.2 million.

It has come to light that the John Malkovich Pension Plan and Trust has opposed to the decision reached by the trustee that has been liquidating the Bernie Madoff’s securities firm, Irving Picard, to award the actor $670,000. It has been stated that the trustee was wrong about the amount that the actor is entitled to from the liquidation of the firm. At the same time, the 56 year old actor’s lawyers have reiterated that they are entitled to receive the amount that is shown in the final statement of the Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC which is the November 30, 2008 account statement before the arrest of the investment banker, later in the month of December.

John Malkovich, who is known to have been part of movies such as ‘Being John Malkovich’, ‘Burn After Reading’ among others, is one of the thousands of investors who have lost millions in the Ponzi fraud which came to light in December, 2008 after it was revealed by Bernie Madoff, which was followed by his arrest. The investment banker was given a sentence of 150 years in prison in the month of June, 2009.
