Aug 30, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Few will disagree to the statement that the 62nd Primetime Emmy Award was ruled by new faces and new shows which have undoubtedly changed the face of the small screen entertainment world. Projecting the change in trend and viewer’s taste, out of the eight major categories at the Emmy Awards, seven went to new-comers this year. Jim Parsons, the geek physicist of “The Big Bang Theory” went on to win the prestigious best comedy actor award for his role of Sheldon in the CBS sitcom. The actor, who last year won the Television Critics Association award under the category of highest individual achievements in comedy, seemed all elated to be recognized as the best comedy actor by the jury of the prestigious Emmy Awards.
An elated Jim Parsons repeatedly went on to mention in front of the media sources that the award has come all uninformed and that he feels like living a long cherished dream. While addressing the media back stage, Jim Parsons said that he is waiting for somebody to pinch him out of the present dream. Although there is no doubt about the fact that winning an Emmy award is a cherished dream that is nurtured by almost every person related to the world of television, Jim Parsons has his foot grounded on reality. The actor said that he is hopeful that even the shift of the show to the Thursday slot this fall will not hamper its viewership.
As for the character of Sheldon that brought Jim Parsons his first Emmy award, the actor voiced that his appeal lies in his difference from others. Being in the “minority of intelligence and behavior”, is what sets Sheldon apart from other comic characters and holds the interest of the viewers according to Jim Parsons.
