Actor Harve Presnell Dies At 75

Harve PresnellThe entertainment world is receiving one shock after another. The shocking trail of celebrity deaths continue as another veteran American actor Harve Presnell passed away on Tuesday, at the St. John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California. He was 75 years old and the cause of his death is said to be pancreatic cancer. Presnell’s agent Gregg Klein had confirmed the news.

Born in Modesto, California, the actor had had a humble debut in the entertainment world, singing in an opera at the age of sixteen. He had received huge acclaim in the 1960s with the release of the Broadway musical “The Unsinkable Molly Brown” where he had played the role of Johnnie Brown. He had also acted in the screen version of the popular musical.

Then for quite a long time he had concentrated on the theater, doing challenging roles like Don Quixote in “Man of La Mancha”, Rhett Butler in “Scarlett” as well successfully touring the US for the plays, “Annie” and its sequel, “Annie Warbucks” where he had played the role of Daddy Warbucks.
He had also lead his voice in the film “Paint Your Wagon” in 1969, singing the famous “They Call The Wind Maria.” His his acting skill was provedagainin 1996 when after a gap of 25 years, Harve Presnell came back to play a character actor and almost immediately struck gold. He portrayed an ill-fated and dominating father-in-law, William H. Macy, in the film “Fargo” which became a cult film. His recent works include his roles in the TV production “The Pretender”, “The Monk” and the film “Mr.Deeds” (2002) and “Old School” (2003). He is the winner of the Golden Globe award.
