Actor Harold Gould dies at the age of 86 years

Harold Gould in The Sting Sep 14 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Actor Harold V. Goldstein who is best known as his stage name Harold Gould died on Saturday at Woodlands Hills California. The 86 year old actor died of prostate cancer.

The actor may be well known for his roles in the television shows The Mary Tyler More Show and Rhoda in the 70s. The actor had a PhD in dramatic speech and literature from Cornell.

He entered professional acting after he had taught acting in college for sometime. Notwithstanding, the actor managed to feature in several television shows since then. He also featured in several movies, playing various roles.

He was born on December 10 1923. Gould served in the American Army during the Second World War. After the war, Gould graduated from New York State College for Teachers and went ahead to Cornell to obtain PhD from there. He was a drama tutor at Randolph-Macon Woman’s College and the University of California. Gould married his wife in 1950.

During the course of his professional acting career he was an integral part of St. Elsewhere, Webster, Trapper John, M.D L.A. Law, Night Court, Dallas, Lois and Clark, Touched by an Angel, Felicity, The King of Queens, Judging Amy and Cold Case.

He spent his last days at the Motion Picture and Television retirement community. His wife, two sons, a daughter and five grandchildren survive him.
