Actor G.D. Spradlin dies

Oklahoma, July 26 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Godfather II actor G.D. Spradlin has died at the age of 90. Spradin is famous for his role in the second installment of the Oscar-winning movie where he played Senator Pat Geary.

Grandson Justin Demko told the Los Angeles Times that Spradlin died of natural causes on Sunday at his ranch in California. Apart from Godfather II, Spradin has also played several roles in other movies.

He was born in Oklahoma in 1920 and served in the US Air Force during the Second World War. He was positioned in China during the war and shortly after his service in the military Spradlin took up the career of a lawyer. He later became an independent oil producer in the United States and made his riches through that.

Some of his high profile jobs include being in charge of John F. Kennedy’s 1960 presidential campaign. His bid to be the mayor of Oklahoma in 1965 however failed.

Spradlin appeared in such other movies like Apocalypse Now, The War of the Roses and Wood. His last screen work was in the 1999 hit comedy Dick. In the movie Spradlin played the role of the Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee.
