Actor Casey Affleck says that his film ‘I’m Still Here’ is ‘performance art’

Sep 19 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Actor Casey Affleck has said that his film ‘I’m Still Here’ is the performance art. He also stated that it is more than a documentary and is also satirical at times. The film showcases the life and times of actor Joaquin Phoenix, who wants to become a hip-hop artist. It also ought to be mentioned here that ‘I’m still here’ marks the directorial debut of Casey Affleck.

The movie was shown at the Toronto International Film Festival. According to various reports, the film is not real at all, and even the parts that appear candid and honest, are in fact not so. Even the candid family moments shown in the film, are put-on, as actors were used to shoot it.

According to New York Times, Casey said that, Phoenix gives “a terrific performance, it’s the performance of his career.” He also said that the movie is in fact “a documentary on Joaquin Phoenix’s transition from the acting world to a career as an aspiring rapper.” Casey also added that, “I never intended to trick anybody. The idea of a quote, hoax, unquote, never entered my mind.” It sure remains to be seen what a reception it would get at the box-office in the long run.
