Mar 2, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The trend of writing quirk classic novels is catching up fast with a section of writers and the readers are lapping up those so called mash up books. The idea is to pick a classic preferably from the 18th century and so on and then mix it up with a twist in the plot. The purists lashed out the first mash up effort titled Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, but it proved to be a sleeper hit with the readers. The popularity of the mash up novel forced Natalie Portman to pick it up for film adaptation. It seems that more such novels are to see the light of the day and the latest to hog the limelight is ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’.

As its name suggests, this mash-up novel written by author Seth Grahame-Smith has depicted the US president with an appetite for slaying blood sucking monsters commonly known as vampires. For the historians it would be indeed difficult to visualize the 16th century President as a vampire slayer. However, the publishers of the book are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that it clicks with the readers. They have released a video trailer for the book in which one can see the former President fighting with a vampire.

The video for the book ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’ can be found online now and it has already been downloaded by several curious readers. With time, we can expect more such mashup books to hit the shelves. Going by the initial reactions, one can expect some movie adaptations as well.
