September 8th, 2010 - 11:42 am ICT by Sampurn WireSeptember 8, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): TV actor Abir Chatterjee is making waves in the Bengali film industry; his second movie Byomkesh Bokshi has made him a household name among the Bengali film audience. When asked about his acting genes, Abir says that his father Phalguni chatterjee and mother Rumki Chatterjee are well known stage personalities and he is brought up in an acting environment.
Although acting was one of the primary topics of discussion at home, Abir never thought that he would take it up professionally. Abir considered acting as a natural extension to his daily life and he used to take part in his father’s theater group “Lok krishti’ from time to time. He is particularly appreciative of his parents because they never pressurized him to take up acting.
Abir has been a part of the Television industry since 2002 and he got his first major break came when he was asked to work in a feature film “Cross Connection”. Talking about his last film Byomkesh…, Abir says that he was a major Byomkesh fan since childhood and he researched a lot for the role. Abir had a lot of sittings with Anjan Dutta about the character development and that helped him a lot in the portrayal of the super sleuth.
