June 25, (THAINDIAN NEWS) ABC has come up with a new medical community based documentary named ‘Boston Med’ which promises to be refreshingly different from the familiar soaps dealing with the topic. The premiere of the show took place last night on the network and the viewers have given it a thumbs up. The series deals with the things happening in three Boston hospitals- Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital Boston and Massachusetts General. Terence Wrong, the executive producer of the show spent almost 4 months along with the crew filing the various sequences in the documentary. He is no doubt careful craftsman who has successfully etched out 8 episodes from thousands hours of footage. The series evokes a variety of emotions among the viewers.
The show is refreshingly different as it does not stay limited to depicting what the doctors and nurses do at the hospitals and what problems the patients have to face. Instead, the documentary tries to bring out the human side of the caregivers and their own stories hidden under the masks and apparently emotionless faces. There are a lot of scenes in each episode of the show which the patients and doctors can identify with.
The premiere of the series gives the impression that everything about it is realistic and one gets the impression of witnessing the turmoil of the patients and the doctors treating them in real life. The characters are not without their grey sides as well. Dr. Daniel DiBardino and Dr. Pina Patel are totally opposite yet the viewers cannot help liking them both in the series. Those who have had enough of Grey’s Anatomy can switch to this documentary for a change.
