With “Inception” as a tough contender, “The Social Network” proved its worth as Aaron Sorkin advanced towards the stage to receive the Award for the Best Screenplay.

The acclaimed screenwriter went to the stage from the side of “The Social Network” to receive the second award for the evening, the first one being already received by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for the Best Original Score. After receiving the award, Aaron Sorkin could not help himself from calling out David Fincher’s name whom he thanked for having directed “The Social Network” in a truly genius manner. The director recalled how David Fincher had directed tough scenes which involved only typings and nothing else. Next came his message for Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, where Aaron Sorkin hailed the entrepreneur as a great visionary and an altruist. The “A Few Good Men” screenwriter was also seen offering an olive branch to convey his honor to Mark Zuckerberg whose role in the film has been depicted from not a very positive angle.

“The Social Network” which is based on the birth of the giant social networking site Facebook was one of the biggest hits of last year. The talented screenwriter then also went on to sort the matter out with the critics who had blamed the movie for being ’sexist’, accusing that the female characters in “The Social Network” were not realistic.
