Aaron Johnson cast as young John Lennon
March 13th, 2009 - 1:23 pm ICT by IANSLondon, March 13 (IANS) Director Sam Taylor-Wood has cast rising star Aaron Johnson and feels that he is the perfect man to play the young John Lennon in her debut film “Nowhere Man”.
Taylor-Wood thinks Johnson has “confidence alongside vulnerability” and “a charisma that can hold a gaze for a long time”, dailymail.co.uk reports. The movie is about the young Beatles legend’s “search for a mother”. The Bafta-winning screenwriter Mark Greenhaigh penned the script.
Lennon was raised by his strict Aunt Mimi from the age of five and did not see his mom till he was in his teens.
The author said: “They were sisters, and did have similar traits, despite one sibling choosing a different path to the other. Mimi was the traditional one and Julia the free spirit - but I think Mimi was probably more like Julia than she’d ever care to admit.”
Greenhaigh said: “It’s fiction based on fact. Of course, I wasn’t there in any of the scenes I write about. It all happened in my head. People get confused and go ‘Oh, this didn’t happen!’ and so on.”
