Aakhri Munadi selected in Mumbai International Film Festival 2010

Short film “Aakhri Munadi –The Last Announcement’ has been selected for the Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) 2010 under the film and video competition category. MIFF is scheduled from 3rd to 9th February 2010 at NCPA ground at Nariman Point.
The Mumbai International Film Festival for Documentary, Short and Animation Films is a biennial competitive event in film and video format and is organized by the Films Division a department of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India, in close co- operation with State Govt. of Maharashtra. In this festival, outstanding films in various categories are selected by International Jury for Golden and Silver Conches with hefty cash prizes aggregating to 2.7 million Indian rupees (approx. USD 60,000).
15 minutes short film “Aakhri Munadi– The Last Announcement’ was also selected in prestigious films festivals like River to River Florence Indian film festival 2008, Italy and Signs 2009 Film Festival-Federation of Film Societies in India, Kerala.
“Aakhri Munadi– The Last Announcement’ is directed by Ex-NSD (National School of Drama) student Ahsan Bakhsh and produced by well known film PR company H.S Communication and ad firm Graphisads. Director Ahsan Bakhsh is also an actor and had written the story of serial “Amber Dhara’ which used to telecast on Sony T.V.
The story of “Aakhri Munadi– The Last Announcement’ is based on a Government messenger Puran Singh who takes pride in his voice and his Drum (Nagara). People of his town have faith in the announcements made by Puran Singh and believe that whatever he says is true. The USP of film is that it portrays the culture and traditions of Himalayan villages which is quite mesmerizing.
