A quarter of takeaway curries contain harmful chemicalsOctober 8th, 2008 - 1:23 pm ICT by ANI
London, Oct 8 (ANI): More than one in four takeaway curries contain illegal and potentially harmful levels of laboratory-created chemicals, a UK survey has found.
The researchers came to the conclusion after a survey of 66 curries, which found that 27 per cent used illegally high levels of artificial colour.
One contained five times the permitted amount of colouring equivalent to 3.6kg (8lb) of brightly coloured sweets the study found, reports the Scotsman.
The colourings are limited because they can induce hyperactivity in children.
The samples were taken in West Yorkshire. (ANI)
