Mumbai, Nov 21 (IANS) Were Sara Khan and Ali Merchant already married when they tied the knot again on reality show Bigg Boss? After saying ‘yes’ emphatically earlier, Sara’s family has now done a U-turn

Sara’s younger sister Angel, who had claimed before the media that Sara had married two years back, is singing a different tune now.

“Now that the marriage has been solemnized, we have no objection,” said the young woman who aspires to herself become an actress.

Angel denied being pressurized by the television channel — to change her version.

Added Sara’s mother Seema Khan: “Earlier Sara and Ali had done only the formalities as the two had to live in Mumbai. Because if they did not have marriage papers, they would face problems.”

The Sara-Ali love story took an ugly twist when Sara’s family claimed that both Sara and Ali were already married.

They said the show was not a reality show but a scripted one, an allegation one of the contestantants, Rahul Bhatt, son of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, had also made on eviction.

The marriage inside the Big Boss house took place Nov 10.

As Sara and Ali both belong to Bhopal, the matter quickly became the talk of the town.

City resident Shamshul Hasan filed a petition against them in a Bhopal court, accusing them of cheating the public.

“My petitioner Shamshul Hasan has submitted the original Nikahnama of Sara and Ali’s marriage that took place two years back on November 10, 2008.

“It has the signature of Sara’s father Perwez Khan. A color photograph showing them as newly wed has been attached with Nikahnama,” said advocate Yawar Khan to IANS.

When contacted, Ashwini Yardi, programme head of Colors TV, refused to comment on the issue.
