30New York, Apr 30, (THAINDIAN NEWS) One of the most sought after tracks from Beatle’s Album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band “A Day in the Life” shall now witness a whopping $700,000 auction where the lyrics of the song bearing John Lennon’s signature shall be auctioned on June 18 at the Sotheby’s of New York.

The paper containing the lyrics of the song happens to be a double-sided sheet which carries John Lennon’s own handwriting through a string of corrected words in between the lyrics. This is one song which had witnessed a top rank position in the American Billboard 200 for a stretch of 15 weeks and on the British charts for continuous 27 weeks that accounts for its popularity. Reportedly, the album happens to be the last musical work by the famous band. It was told that the precious piece of paper containing the lyrics of the song will be sold by an anonymous American collector who had purchased the same from Sotheby in 1992 for $93,000 way back in the year of 1992. However, now the collector wants to sell off his rich collection in order to procure funds with which he plans to own a vineyard. The auction takes place on June 18 that also marks the 68th birthday of Paul McCartney who happens to be the co-lyricist of the song.

Reportedly, the lyrics were composed on a 1967 January afternoon which makes it a roughly written draft written by a blur colored ballpoint pen and a red ink marking the annotations. However the other side of the page is all written in capital letters. McCartney’s composed portion starting “Woke up… bed” was added to the original lyrics of John Lennon which finally crafted the final version of the song.
