September 7, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Radio One, India’s only music station, joined hands with Navjyoti Foundation which works towards the uplift of the underprivileged children for a special morning show this Teachers Day to salute their spirit. This was Radio One’s way to recognize teachers’ invaluable contribution to the society, by highlighting their selflessness in shaping young minds.
The special morning show was done by MJ Prateek of Radio One from the Karala branch of Navjyoti Community College by 7am - 11am. MJ Prateek had an interaction with the students and teachers there.
Debojit Saha (Programming Head (North) and National Client Solutions, Radio One) commented on the occasion “We’re delighted that Radio One’s core proposition of “music’ can be dovetailed so beautifully in making special people feel even more special. Students dedicating songs to their teacher was such a heartwarming experience. Music is such a binding force, and we’re really happy that Radio One could play a role in strengthening this bond between students and their teachers”
Navjyoti Community College, a part of Navjyoti Foundation runs under the guidance of Dr. Kiran Bedi(Retd. IPS Officer).
The aim of Navjyoti is to make these students self-reliant. Dr. Kiran Bedi under who’s leadership this college is run said, “Teaching is still the most respected and trusted profession all over the world. Students trust their teachers and imitate them so everyone who’s teaching should never break this trust. Teachers should be honest and every one should try to inculcate the habit of self - teaching.”
