74-Year-Old Hollywood Rebel Dennis Hopper Dies

denisLos Angeles, May 30, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The long battle of Dennis Hopper, the rebel and the bad boy of Hollywood, with cancer ended on Saturday as he breathed his last. The 74-year-old actor who had ruled the world of Hollywood for more than 50 years both as an actor and a director, died at his Los Angeles Beach Community of Venice home. The family friend of Dennis Hopper, Alex Hitz mentioned to media sources that the actor was surrounded by family members and friends during his time of death. Dennis Hopper was diagnosed with prostrate cancer last year and was not keeping well due to it.

Dennis Hopper’s professional career as an actor and a director has both seen many ups and downs. However, there is no denying the fact that his’ was one of the most long-lived careers in the film industry. Dennis Hopper got to the limelight with his role in “Rebel Without a Cause”. He went on to deliver some good movies but towards the end of his career there were many such films that he indulged in which were not appreciated both by critics and viewers. As a director he got to fame with “Easy Rider” which was praised for innovative editing and improvisational methods. Apart from these, he is remembered by many as the iconic villain “Frank Booth” of “Blue Velvet” (1986).

On Saturday as the news of the death of Dennis Hooper spread many people from the film fraternity expressed their sorrow at the death of the star. Peter Fonda with whom Dennis Hopper teamed during the making of “Easy Rider” said to media sources, “We rode the highways of America and changed the way movies were made in Hollywood”.
