emmyLos Angeles, September 21, (THAINDIANS NEWS) There wasn’t much that was left for guessing when the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards 2009 began this year. It was once more a repetition of the scenario that have been taking place at the coveted Emmys since the past three years. The predictable winners came and took home their awards. Nevertheless, it was one star studded event in all likelihood.

The awards ceremony was aired on the CBS network last night. The nominations list, as is known, had nothing new on offers, since last year. “30 Rock,”the NBC comedy had received 22 nominations, which was the maximum number of nominations this year. The HBO network had the most nominations among all the networks, with an overwhelming 99.

The event kicked off on a very melodious note, with the host for the evening, Neil Patrick Harris, belting out “Don’t Touch That Remote.” MAD MEN (AMC), took home the award in the “Outstanding Drama Series,” NBC’s 30 ROCK received the award for “Outstanding Comedy Series.” The award for the “Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series” went to Tina Fey, for “SNL.” Pop star Justin Timberlake walked away with the award for the category, “Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series,” for his appearance on SNL.

The versatile Alec Baldwin got the award for the Best Actor- Comedy for his character portrayal on 30 Rock. Best Actor in Drama went to Bryan Cranston for Breaking Bad, and the actress Glenn Glose received the honor for the Best Actress- Drama for “Damages.” Kristin Chenoweth got the award for her act in “Pushing Daisies” in the category “Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy” and the award for the men, in the same category, went to Jon Cryer for “Two and a Half Men.”
