‘60 Minutes’ Showcases The Other Side Of Eminem

eminemOct 11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In the much anticipated episode featuring rap icon Eminem, ‘60 Minutes’ correspondent Anderson Cooper showcased the rise to Hip Hop superstardom as one of the most influential figures in music today. The fans got an insight into the life of the elusive rapper who revealed that he does not allow profanities at his home. For fans who have been following his lyrics over the years, the revelation came quite as a surprise. Eminem also spoke about his stint with substance abuse and revisited the places that had a role to play in his growing up and his journey to the top of the Hip Hop industry.

On the show, Eminem revealed that all that he wanted to earn was ‘respect’. He said that his disturbed childhood and his boxer like determination helped him carve out a niche in an industry that is dominated totally by African American singers. His humble beginnings in Detroit were also showcased and the famous 8 Mile which divides the predominantly white neighborhood from the colored. Eminem explained that he found his voice as a teenager through his rap. He said that rap allowed him, Marshall Mathers, to feel the respect from the people that he was always looking for. Eminem said that after he dropped out from school in 9th grade, he competed in the local rap battles in Detroit, where he was usually the only white rapper in a colored crowd.

Eminem has also struggled with his drug addiction in the past few years. His recent recovery from the addictions has been showcased in his latest album called ‘Recovery’ which also has some of the other big names in the industry collaborating with Slim Shady.
