50 Cents $2.4m mansion destroyed in suspicious fire
May 31st, 2008 - 1:32 pm ICT by adminNew York, May 31 (ANI): Rapper 50 Cent’s Dix Hills mansion on Long Island near New York City, which is at the centre of a legal feud between the rapper and his ex girlfriend Shaniqua Tompkins, was destroyed in a suspicious fire on Friday, May 30.
And Tompkins, who was living in the house with their son, has accused the entertainer for setting the house on fire.
Tompkins and two of her children, including the rapper’s 10-year-old son, Marquise, were among six people who fled the early morning Dix Hills fire.
“He tried to kill me and his own child,” the New York Daily News quoted Tompkins, as saying.
She stood screaming outside the destroyed mansion hours after the inferno.
She alleged that the rapper 50 Cent a.k.a Curtis Jackson had threatened her just days ago during a deposition in her lawyer’s Tribeca office.
“He threatened me on Monday. He said, ‘Watch what I’ll do. I’ll have someone come kill you,’ ” said Tompkins.
The 32-year-old rapper, who was filming a movie in Louisiana, has released a statement saying he “is extremely thankful that everyone including his son, Marquise, escaped the burning house safely.”
However, 50 Cent’s reps have refused to respond to Tompkins allegations.
Tompkins has filed lawsuit in Manhattan Supreme Court, claiming that she’s entitled to half of 50 Cent’s fortune and the house that’s now in ruins.
In her suit, Tompkins claimed the rapper promised to give her the house 12 years ago and a judge stayed the eviction until the facts were litigated.
“That’s a moot point now,” said Tompkins’ lawyer Paul Catsandonis
“I’m shocked about this,” said the rappers lawyer and added that “it would be inappropriate” for him to say more about the incident or Tompkins’ allegations.
Authorities said Tompkins, her children, her boyfriend’s two kids and a nanny were treated for smoke inhalation at Huntington Hospital and later released. (ANI)
