clcrime Sep 26, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The story and life history of serial killer Rodney Alcala, was featured on the premiere episode of this season’s CBS News “48 Hours Mystery” on Saturday night. Rodney Alcala, who has a criminal record of a serial killer for a stretch of about 31 years, was sentenced to death Orange County judge earlier this year.

Rodney Alcala, who was convicted for the rape and murder of four women and one twelve years old minor, was indulged in sexual crimes two times before. He was penalized for kidnapping and murdering Robin Samsoe, a Huntington Beach girl, whom he abducted while she was riding a bicycle near her home in the summer of 1979. However, he reversed all his previous conviction until, the police tracked him down and pleaded him guilty, resorting to the forensic evidences and DNA reports. The convict, although considered to be a very intelligent person, failed to produce any evidences in his favor in the third trial. All he could do was to persuade the judges that he was innocent. He was given the final hearing on March 2010. The one hour premiere episode named “The Killing Game” featured all his previous crimes before his trial for the case of Robin Samsoe.

The premiere episode of “48 Hours Mystery” also paid a warm tribute to their late correspondent, Harold Dow, who passed away recently and prior to his demise was involved in research about Rodney Alcala. The show will also feature his interviews with the criminal’s family members, investigators, ex-girlfriend and other girls whom he had approached.
