Nov.29, (THAINDIAN NEWS) CBS network’s ‘48 Hours’ premiered a new three episode series “Live to Tell” on Saturday which featured the story of serial killer Tommy Lynn Sells. The episode which was titled as “Krystal’s Courage” highlighted the heart wrenching story of Krystal Surles, who along with her sister was brutally attacked by Tommy which ultimately resulted in the death of her sister. Krystal was just 10 years old when she suffered the inhumane attack by the serial killer.

In the new series, Krystal remembered intrinsic details of that fateful night as well as how she recovered from the trauma. With her indomitable will power not only did she survive but she also managed to bring the serial killer to justice.

While recounting the gruesome incident, Krystal revealed that on the fateful night of December 31, 1999 she along with her sister Katy were staying over at a family friends place in Del Rio, Texas. As she and 13 year old Katy were sleeping, a man suddenly barged in their room through the window. As she watched in horror, the man killed Katy by stabbing her 16 times mercilessly. At the same time he did not spare Krystal and slashed her throat, leaving her profusely bleeding. However, the young girl mustered up all her courage and ran to a neighbor’s house.

After receiving necessary treatment, Krystal identified the killer who turned out to be Tommy Lynn Sells. Surprisingly, following her arrest, Tommy also confessed to other multiple murders that he had committed over a period of 20 years with the police confirming that the serial killer was responsible for the death of at least 22 people.
