45th Jerry Lewis Telethon Kicks Off In Las Vegas

jeryLas Vegas, Sep 6, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Noted comedian Jerry Lewis is back again with his annual telethon that is held each year during the Labor Day weekend to raise funds for muscular dystrophy. The annual event which reached its 45th year this time kick started on Sunday evening in the sin city of Las Vegas and was also attended by a host of other celebrities who had turned up to make the telethon a huge success.

Like every previous year even this time around, Jerry Lewis’ telethon entertained the audiences to the fullest who attended the event that was held with much elan at the South Point Hotel, Casino, and Spa in Las Vegas. However, the large number of audiences sitting at home were also not left disappointed as television stations across the nation showcased the much-anticipated event. After commencing on Sunday evening, the telethon would be continuing for little more than 21 hours in which millions of money is expected to be raised which would be used for the benefits of the patients suffering from muscle diseases. One of the performers who graced the event while ensuring that the viewers have a great time was renowned comedy artist George Wallace who provided the audiences with a much-needed comic relief.

Since the Jerry Lewis’ telethon was incepted way back in the year 1966, it has been successful in raising a whopping $2.45 dollars for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Every year the gala event is accompanied with extensive business advertisements and the money that is gained from the commercials is used to treat patients who are suffering from different kinds of muscle ailments.
