3D erotic movie a hit in Hong Kong
April 21st, 2011 - 6:19 pm ICT by IANSShanghai, April 21 (IANS) The erotic movie “3D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy” has become a huge draw in Hong Kong, a media report said.
Shanghai Daily reported Thursday that the pioneering 3D movie, which is $3.5 million Cantonese-language production, has beaten the first-day record set by “Avatar”.
It earned HK$17 million (US$2.2 million) as of Tuesday after it opened last week in 73 screens, said producer Stephen Shiu.
The movie has full nudity and lovemaking scenes. It, however, does not show actual intercourse.
Starring Japanese porn stars Hara Saori and Suo Yukiko and Hong Kong actress Vonnie Liu, the film is about a sexually frustrated scholar in ancient China who loses himself in the harem of a noble.
The movie opened in Taiwan Friday on 77 screens and it earned $590,000 over the weekend.
Shiu said the earnings were the best opening weekend for a Chinese-language movie in Taiwan this year.
“We met people’s expectations. People have always thought that you need 3D technology for this kind of content. So people were very curious,” Shiu was quoted as saying.
