2011 PGA Award Winners: ‘The King’s Speech’ And ‘Modern Family’ Steal The Show

on the Producers Guild of America (PGA) award. Colin Firth starrer drama claimed the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures.
Toy Story 3 saw off competition from Despicable Me and How to Train Your Dragon to win in the Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures category. Producer Darla K. Anderson in his speech showered applauses on director Lee Unkrich for his outstanding direction.
Waiting for Superman bagged the trophy in the documentary category edging past Inside Job and other rival nominees. Some honorary awards were also bestowed on director of Avatar, James Cameron (Milestone Award), The Social Network and True Grit producer Scott Rudin (David O. Selznick Award) and on Spider-Man producer Laura Ziskin (Visionary Award).
In the Television category, it was the ABC’s ‘Modern Family’ that ran away with the Danny Thomas Award for Outstanding Producer of Episodic Television. ‘Modern Family’ may have lost out to ‘Glee’ at the Golden Globe but it made amends at the PGA Awards.
In the drama category, it was the ‘Mad Men’ that received the award for the third consecutive year. Defeating the likes of ‘Dexter’ and ‘Lost’, it won the Norman Felton Award for Outstanding Producer of Episodic Television.
David L. Wolper Award for Outstanding Producer of Long-Form Television was grabbed by the HBO’s miniseries ‘The Pacific’ that elbowed past other programs like ‘Temple Grandin’ and ‘You Don’t Know Jack.’
Discovery Channel’s ‘Deadliest Catch’ and Comedy Channel’s ‘The Colbert Report’ respectively won the Outstanding Producer of Non-Fiction Television and Outstanding Producer of Live Entertainment and Competition Television.
