2010 Tony Nominees Divulged

May 5, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): The nominations for this year’s Tony Awards have been enunciated at last. It seems amply evident that ‘Fela!’ and ‘La Cage aux Folles’ have led the catalog. Each of the two has obtained 11 thumbs up in all. Nonetheless, the audience will not be able to realize the names of the victors until the event comes to pass at the Radio City Music Hall on June 13th.

A fresh play titled ‘Red’ has tagged along narrowly behind in the catalog of nominations, with a total of seven. ‘Red’ has been chosen for the Best Play award, alongside ‘In the Next Room’ (or The Vibrator Play) by Sarah Ruhl, ‘Next Fall’ by Geoffrey Nauffts, and ‘Time Stands Still’ by Donald Margulies.

Others contending in the Best Musical category consist of ‘American Idiot’ and ‘Memphis.’

It appears that there are some prominent Hollywood names amongst the nominees as well. This consists of Jude Law, Live Schreiber, Christopher Walken and Denzel Washington. Each of the abovementioned skillful actors has been nominated in the category of the Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play.

Denzel Washington acquired his initial Tony selection for the current revitalization of August Wilson’s ‘Fences,’ which collected a total of 10 nominations.
