2009 MTV VMA Winners: Beyonce, Lady GaGa And Green Day Lead The Way

vma2Last night, September 13, the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards was held at the Radio City Music Hall in New York. The event had been broadcast live on MTV from 8 p.m. onwards. It was a starry night, as the who’s who of the music industry turned up at the event, making it a night to remember for the whole year.

The night showcased brilliant performances by such biggies of the entertainment world as Beyonce, Green Day, Lady GaGa, Taylor Swift, Jay-Z and a host of such others. A touching moment in the show arose at the time when Janet Jackson came up on stage to pay a starry tribute to her late brother, the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. The Queen of Pop, Madonna, too paid a teary homage to the late star.

The night’s big winners emerged to be Beyonce, Lady GaGa, Green Day, among others. The R&B diva Beyonce picked up as many as three awards for number, “Single Ladies,” which included the Best Choreography, Video of the Year and Best Editing. Lady GaGa, whose debut in the music arena last year has already managed to create a sufficient buzz, took home the awards for Best New Artist, Art Direction as well as Special Effects for the video of her song “Paparazzi”.

On behalf of the rock genre, the immensely popular band of “Green Day” walked away with three awards for the Best Rock Video, Best Cinematography and Best Direction for their song, “21 Guns”. Singing sensation Taylor Swift received an award in the category of Best Female Video” for “You Belong With Me”. Britney Spears’ Womanizer” got the “Best Female Video”.
