Duggar FamilyDec. 30, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The viewers of the popular TLC show, “18 Kids and Counting” must have been delighted as the nineteenth child of the family has completed twenty days today. Josie Brooklyn Duggar, the nineteenth baby of Michelle Duggar and Jim Bob, born on December 10, 2009 has been enjoying good health. As she is a premature baby, the doctors have kept her under 24 hours medical supervision, which made the family to come to the hospital and celebrate Christmas with her.

Duggar family’s coming to the hospital for spending the Christmas has been received with mixed reviews from people. Most of the people were happy to know that the newborn has received the company of her near ones on Christmas. There were some, who appreciated Duggar family’s Christmas plan but did not support their idea of expanding their family. Some people consider that the family has not used any birth control measure to get more publicity from people. However, there are reports that indicate the family is not expanding their number for any record or publicity. The couple have stopped using any kind of birth control measures after Michelle Duggar suffered a miscarriage.

It has been reported that Duggar couple, who are now the parents to nineteen kids would not use any birth control measure even after the premature delivery of the last child. Therefore, the viewers of the program that features Duggar family can expect to see more members joining the family in the coming days. During this pregnancy, Michelle Duggar has suffered from pre-eclampsia condition and it has not been confirmed whether she would prefer to conceive again.

michelle duggar will not have a very long life ahead of her because having so many babys will put a toll on her body and if she continues to have more kids she will get preeclamsia and can get more serious then the last time they are crazy lunatics

  2. Shaniqwa Says:

I say leave them alone. They are responsible parents who amply provide for all of their children. Plus, they want and love each and every child! The crazy lunatics are the ones who have children they either do not want or choose not and/or cannot take care of their children; babies who are born into drugs and prostitution whose mama doesn’t even know who is the baby daddy!

  3. MomOf 2 Says:

The Duggar’s are exemplary parents. They are consistent with their children, they are stable, they are self reliant and they are intelligent… all traits they have passed on either through genes or example. Anyone would be thrilled to have just one of these children and they are fortunate enough to have 19. They are not lunatics. They simply have a lifestyle that most people lack the discipline to uphold. Society now is satisfied with laying up and cranking out babies as fast as a one armed bandit hammers out nickels with zero regard for their well being. As soon as kids become real work, we want to medicate and compartmentalize them. Not all of us have the health or circumstances to support such a large family. As long as Mrs. Duggar remains in good health there is no reason for her to stop. I know that after losing 3 and having other health issues I could never be able to have so many. AS anyone with any real knowledge of medicine will say, my biggest concern for her would be the risk of age related difficulties such as chromosome disorders with her babies. Other than that, if she is up to it, more power to her.

Anyone of any age and any number of children can have this exact same issue. What has happened with this pregnancy happens a lot more than people realize.

Part of the problem society has is a lack of positive reinforcement. Everyone has something negative to say. Maybe we should all refer to the adage, if you can’t say something nice, then don’t say anything at all.

  4. D Reitz Says:

Last time i checked the Duggars lived in America where they are free to have as many children as they desire. They are taking care of them financially ( they recieve no food stamps, they get money from the show but that is not why they had so many children, the fact that they had the children already and were doing it debt free was why they were noticed and asked to be involved in a show.) They take care of them emotionaly - the kids are very loving, kind, people ( yea I have met them and they are just what you see) . I can’t see where one of them has been involved in drugs, alcohol, breaking the law, etc. Yes the older ones help MENTOR the younger ones. Most families do that to some extent or another. I don’t hear the kids complaining, they love being with each other. As for Michelles health - she makes the decision to continue, it is her right to decide. Women everyday are faced with similar decisions and it is theirs to make, remember we are in America. If you want rights taken from another be prepared for them to also be taken from you.

  5. tree Says:

while i enjoy the duggar’s tlc show, and their choice to have 19 children , i now feel that enough is enough, after suffering preeclamsia i do not think they should have anymore children because it will be a risk for her and the baby , having another baby would be to dangerous for mother and baby. she should begin using birth control or consider having her tubes tied.

  6. Losers Says:

These parents are selfish, sick individuals. What will the cult control freak Jim Bob do when Michelle eventually dies in childbirth? Sell his kids on Ebay? Disgusting people.

  7. carol Says:

this is their decision but I hope they stop with this one before her health is put at any more risk. The kids that are already here to keep their mother not lose her to another emergency surgery. I love the way the other children all help with the younger ones. It’s very refreshing to see that much love in a family.

  8. Sue Says:

My message and short and simple. God bless them and their family. He will provide what is needed. I can say the Duggars have touched my life spiritually. I feel their love for the Lord and know they genuinely love their children. They provide all their needs and most importantly their spiritual needs. They give them a foundation on which to grow and go out into the world as adults and continue to serve their Lord. I just wish we had more of that type of family values in the world. My prayers will continue to be with baby Josie and the family.

  9. I just can’t… Says:

Shaniqwa- They may love each child, but do they KNOW each child? My bet is no. I don’t have time to connect with that many people. I doubt Michelle and Jim Bob do. Although I guess they have a head start as the children are captive to their attention.

Momof2- If I was given one of these zombies I would be disappointed. I want a free thinking child who is willing and able to challenge society. And to say most lack their discipline is ridiculous. Most people can prove they have the discipline by using birth control. Surprise- that’s why it was invented! As far as I can see Michelle is cranking them out just as you claim in your post. I refuse to positively reinforce her actions, as there are no positive things about them.

D Reitz- It’s not mentoring, it’s charity. And rediculous at that. They may seem pleased with their lot in life, but my bet is that most will become bitter and disassociate themselves with their vast family. And I agree with your last statement. I would never DREAM of taking away her right to have children. But I bet their not as accepting of my right to have an abortion.

  10. Tom Says:

I Just Can’t- Just think, if you had been aborted, we’d have one less person who can’t spell ridiculous.

  11. Red Says:

Tom: Gosh, I was thinking the same thing.
I Just Can’t: The reason these parents absolutely DO know each child is because they have made them a priority. Michelle is a stay at home mom and Bob has arranged their finances such that he doesn’t have to be done 12 hours a day at an office. He helps at home along with everyone else in the family - you know, like it used to be on a big farm where everyone pitched in? Knowing your children takes WORK, and I applaud them for making their family a priority. Why can’t you at least concede that?

  12. Red Says:

Oops, I meant to say “gone 12 hours a day.” Tom, go easy on me :)

  13. A.Roddy Says:

Have any of you who support them read up on them beliefs? Look up Fundamentalists and Bill Gothard. It will open up your eyes. THe older girls are mini parents.

Chanikwa , dreitz, carol, and momof2 , A dead mother is the last thing these children need. When is not having kids crazy? It is becoming a popular choice these days. Some cant have children. Who is anyone to judge them even if you dont want children.

America is a free country as a poster mentioned. You have the optio of getting married or not, having children or not. Shanikwa I am almost 40 with no kids It wasnt my choice. Be careful making judgements. Having multiple children and relying on the older ones is just as crazy.

Some parents must work 12 hours to put food on the table. Many mothers would love to stay home but cant.If the concern is about life, take care of the ones already here. We will leave them alone when they leave those who live diffrently alone. Americans need to wake up in reality. The world doesnt need any more narwowmindeness.

  14. Just Thinking Says:

Tom: And, what about one FEWER person who gets the words “less” and “fewer” mixed up?

  15. I just can’t… Says:

Tom- petty much? Sorry that I didn’t go through spell check.

Red- I can’t concede that they’ve made their family a priority because, in my opinion, they haven’t. My mother grew up in a large family and because of this has no close relatives from her side of the family. Even if the parents know the kids you know the kids won’t know each other. Tell me that’s a close family. And that they’re trying to show America how great this is is insulting to the loving small families.

  16. Betty D. Brown Says:

I think that the Duggar’s are amazing people. To want to make the family bigger is a Blessing. I think that Michelle and her Husband is strong people and I am inspired by their Faith in God. I pray for God to Bless me and my Husband Reed with more children. I made the mistake of having my tubes tied, but I know that God has healed all broken pieces of me. I ask them to pray for me and Reed, that God will Bless us as he has Blessed them. Love Betty Cumberland,Ky.

  17. Tinkerbell62 Says:

I Just Can’t- I am sorry you have such a sad outlook on large families. My father came from a family of nine he is the middle child. Their would have been more children but do to an accident his father was killed when my dad was nine. My aunts and uncles helped my grandmother and my dad bought my grandmother a home. Each of the children had at least 4 or more children and raised them the same way helping each other. What the Duggars are doing is no different than what people did 50 to 60 years ago with everyone helping and having chores. Even as I grew up my sister helped me and taught me things. This is a family I feel blessed that I got to be apart of this my whole life. My children who are now grown feel the same way. We all help each other out. Just because someone wants to follow their faith or believe the way they want does not make them insulting. What makes it insulting is people that don’t allow others to worship in they way others are accustomed. The other thing is Don’t say things about a person or in this case a family that has good moral values and allows their children to be home schooled and have BOTH parents at home with them and are financially sound. They are not creating a large eco footprint from this family because they are responsible, they buy used and save the difference. They recycle, they make several trips together. I applaud this family and I think they should be commended not condemned like you keep trying to do

  18. lynn hollins Says:

More babies? are they totally nuts? This last episode should be their “sign” from God to STOP! I know everyone thinks they are superior parents; but really; look at the situation: she has a baby; nurses for about 6 months and then turns it over to the older girls to raise while she is pregnant with yet another baby! Superior parents? I don’t think so! Just because she has been a brood mare for ole JimBob doesn’t make them superior parents. I have come to believe that Michelle thinks she has to keep breeding to prove her worth as a woman and wife! Sad! Well, when she dies in child birth, then ole JimBob can get a new wife and have 19 more kids! He’s not the one carrying the babies and giving birth; so what does he care!

I hope the little one does okay, but I think they are mentally ill to keep the insanity going with more pregnancies!

  19. A.Roddy Says:

I agree I just cant Big families do not mean close relationships. And im sure everyone inspires to raise nearly 20 kids like their grandparents. That was 50 or 60 years ago. I got good family values and come from a family iof 4. chores do not hurt anyone but the girls shouldnt be mini parents. Not everyone can be stay at home parents like the Duggars. I read Jim Bob got a bump in land from his parents and Josh and Anna rented the grandparents old home. I dont have kids and find it hard to make ends meet soemtimes and even when we had to cut cable for awhile .No I am not frivoulous. I do not think tying tubes are sinful and would never have one reversed for any reason so all me heathen. Please think twice before reversing anything If something isnt broke dont fix it. It is sad women are guilted into more children.

  20. momof1 Says:

I support they Duggars 100%. They are a great Christian family, and a great example to others. They can make their own decisions, and with their faith in God, will make the right ones.

  21. carol Says:

there we go, just say (CHRISTIAN) and that makes all okay? The only ones

  22. Roxyroo Says:

Say what you like, they live debt free, are respectful of the enviorment and others, they spend quality family time together and enjoy educational trips, they help others.A person feeling the need to condem or mock their lifestyle should take a long hard look in the mirror…..Agree with them or not their is a little infant struggling to survive..I iwsh them the best.

  23. Lina Says:

If all of these hateful and cynical comments are what blogs are made of, I’m not suprised that people are choosing to have fewer children. The Duggar’s have a belief and they are choosing to follow it. You don’t happen to share the same beliefs and that’s your right. Still, they’re not hurting you, so leave them alone. I don’t understand why people get so angry with this family. I’d rather see people raise more children like this than the way many children are raised–or not at all.

  24. carol Says:

they are trying to make this having 19 or more children a big deal. Well they were lucky getting a TV SHOW to support all of them. Not all people out here can find a TV SHOW that will pay them millions. This is wrong to teach the children of today. All kinds of children are staving and they bring some idea about their beleiving this is right! How dare people like this to show it is just fun and games. Every child they have is another one that will be more likly to have some thing wrong wiith it and when the TV show stops guess who will be paying. WE THE PEOPLE!

  25. CAROL Says:

any one out there that needs medical care that would cost a tenth of what this new baby 19 is costing, you can forget the care if you do not have the money. They will put a lean on your soul and any thing else, I would bet you they will walk away not owing a dime?

  26. mystij Says:

These are responsible parents who love each of their children and take care of each and every one of them…They can have as many kids as they want..Who is anyone else to judge them and say how many kids they should have? I hope mom and baby do wonderful and wish them the best…but I cant understand how anyone can find anything bad to say about them…They try to live the right way and their kids seem to be very good kids…whats so wrong with that?

  27. kathryn Says:

“Dwell with them according to knowledge”

  28. Denise Says:

I think we should be wishing baby Josie all Gods Blessings and stay out of the Duggar bedroom….

  29. Wow Says:

    I just can’t…
You are ridiculous and should probably learn to spell before bashing other individual’s beliefs.

  30. Wow Says:

    Lina-
    Totally agree!! Amen sister :)

  31. carol Says:

This is to the smart asses that want to make fun of a persons spelling, not all are that savvy on spelling. That does not mean they are intelligent or not intelligent. The people that think it is fine to set examples for others to live by are the not so intelligent ones.
To the ones that remember large families, the reason they had so many children was free labor. No birth control and most did not live past fifty years. We that came from a large family were lucky to have them and enjoyed them all. This is the 21 century and most females have their own views on child bearing. Now for the men unless you can give birth, sit down and shut your mouth. No male has a right to tell any female what they can do with their body. It burns me to have some old ass fool trying to tell any female what to do. WHO IN THE HELL MADE YOU MALES INCHARGE?

  32. Wow Says:

I think it’s hilarious that everyone gets so bent out of shape. Does it affect your life what so ever? ….Exactly my point. Let them be. They’re making a living for themselves and providing for their family.

And yes, spelling does matter. Educate yourself.

  33. Donna Says:

90,000 diapers in landfill with at least half of them containing untreated human waste(yes folks baby poop contains bacteria)isn’t leaving carbon footprint on the planet???Give your heads a shake folks!!!

  34. A.Roddy Says:

People choose to have fewer children because it is their choice. If it is the Duggars right to have 19 or 30 it’s mine to have none or one or two. That does not make someone less of a person. If you place too much emphasis on the numbr of kids and not the marriage you get the Gosselins and they are Christian. The last thing God or whoever you beleive in will judge is family size.

  35. Shirley Says:

Since when is a “Carbon Footprint” a reason NOT to have children?? THINK ABOUT IT FOLKS!…If YOUR mother had a problem with “Carbon Footprints”, you wouldn’t even exist to HAVE an opinion, much less be able to express it!!

  36. Betty D. Brown Says:

Amen, to that sister. Just Praise God that your here and let it be. The more God fearing people we have the better.
    Betty from Harlan, Kentucky

  37. carol Says:

Here is for all of you that place God and christen in your communications. Most that bring this believe people will believe what you say if you invoke Gods name, making all right. Wrong, people that try to excuse what they are doing or saying evoke the God word. The maker made us all with a brain; some just do not work so well. Education on all things makes the person a better person. Einstein flunked math. Spelling must be important, but changing a light bulb is too. Get my drift??? Now for the Duggers, they can have fifty children, I do not give a hoot, but I do get upset when the tax payers have to care for them and their 19 children. The oldest son and the wife have already started on their clan. Who will care for these children when the parents are gone? Now to anyone that think these comments are wrong and none of are business, they made their lives our business. Just like politicians they want a public job, but want a private life? Don’t think so, if they put their lives on world display, sit down shut-up and take the medicine you ordered.

  38. Shirley Says:

Tax payers have never, and are not now, taking care of any member of the Duggar family - plus they were debt-free waaaay before the show even started, and continue to be so. Even though the show, I’m sure, has made their finances blossom, The Duggars continue to believe in a very frugal lifestyle (never buying anything brand new, making their own laundry detergent, etc.)

Based on their excellent history in the area of money management, I would be willing to bet that those kids are set for life should something happen to their parents. They probably have savings out the wazoo, not to mention enough life insurance that those kids will want for nothing.

Folks, in the interest of common decency, try learning A LOT more about them before passing a blanket uninformed (or UNDERinformed) judgement on their lifestyle choices.

  39. debbie Says:

More power to them if they want to have more kids. They take good care of their children, no public assistance.
I know several people who come from large families. My boss was # 10 out of 19, a school mate of mine was # 15 out of 15, my best friend is # 3 out of 11. I’m sure the Duggars make a lot of money from their show, but they share the wealth bringing and cooking meals to homeless people, buying gifts for children in orphanages, plus they donate money to other poor countries and do missionary work.
Jim-Bob and Michelle and the Duggar kids are good role models, from what I’ve heard from some friends in Arkansas their house always has a lot of children from the community over to their house pretty amazing since the Duggar kids don’t have t.v. or video games.
Keep doing what your doing Duggar family, if we had more parents out there like you we wouldn’t have all these little thug gangsters running around.
    God Bless You.

  40. I just can’t… Says:

wow- Please inform me of the words I misspelled. Just so I can make sure not to offend people like you later on. Because I really want to make a good impression on YOU.

A.Roddy- Thanks for bringing that one up!

  41. Carol Says:

Got the kid problem solved; get them a TV. I know that being a smart ass. Okay you people JIMBOB, BOY WHAT A NAME, First he was born July 18th-1965, that makes him 44 (Fourty-four) years old, He does not own a lot of property, he owns two reantals and the home they live in. He was in politics, ran for Sentor, lost. He is so far right the GOP do not want him. Now that is bad. Thinks femaleswere put here for men and to have children. Check it out, go to fact check.

  42. Debksy Says:

Wow I can’t believe some of the negative posts.

1- NONE OF OUR BUSINESS. They have a lot of kids, so what. They are married, not in debt, do acts of good will in and out of country (i.e El Salvador). No slackers, no assistance such as welfare, WIC, food stamps, whatever (and don’t get me wrong, I appreciate what these programs have to offer to help people in real help to people in real need. Yes some abuse it. That is the story that makes the news. Not that studies show that welfare mothers who go back to work, get off welfare have a HUGE difference in good attendance, less likely to be late, keeping/staying with their employer, and therefore off welfare….well it is astoudingly different in favor of former welfare moms…but did you hear that on the news lately? or what about the one where the high school girl gets preggers, graduates with honors a full year early, goes to an intensive two year program, while receiving welfare and free day care and whatever else was offered, at the end of the two year program she gets a job, goes off welfare, buys a car, a house, and while working finishes up the four year degree plan? Was that on the news? Because it happened. And this lady is more likely to never need that sort of assistance again. The govt. caps child tax credits I think it is only 2 or 3 kids per household can be claimed on the Federal taxes. They are sheltered, clothed, fed, loved, educated (by an accredited home schooling program), given whatever medical, dental, oral surgery, brace that they need. Horrors. How dare they bring so many kids into a world where THEY are loved and provided for by …and this is a doozy…their parents. It is not our place to mandate another persons reproductive choices. Am I missing the big picture somewhere. Yes the world is becoming more crowded. Why not limit each household to one kid? Why not do away with all fertility treatments? Anyone who thinks they are doing this for the PR. WOW! Anyone who thinks they just want to be on TV, must not watch the show. Since this is the same thing they have been doing long before they had a TV show. Besides they weren’t trying to sale their story to TLC, TLC went to them.

So their kids aren’t driving home drunk after sneaking out to some wild party that reminds everyone of Caligula with X. Caught and charged with possesion with intent to sale, dropping out of school, and making pregnancy pacts for the girls and the boys playing some sicko game to see how many points they each can earn by being with as many girls as possible? So what is the problem here?
2 - Again, this is a PRIVATE matter, they have listened to the doctors and if they choose not to practice birth control then they know the risks. There are tons of parents who are advised not to have children or anymore children, or with your history and your age these are the things that can go wrong, and still choose to have a baby or more babies. There are women who go through tests that come back and reveal their fetus will have this problem or that problem and make the choice to have that baby still. Some don’t choose to go on with the pregnancy or take steps not to get pregnant. But, seriously if it is not happening to you or me, then it isn’t any of our business. And if you still think this is poor judgement on their part, then change the channel for crying out loud.

  43. Becky Says:

I’m sure Michelle is already knocked up with #20 as we speak. She doesn’t raise those kids, the older daughter’s do. Also there is NO chance for the girls to get an education. They stay at the “compound” taking care of all the little ones. “Religion” like this is one small step away from a cult.

Don’t think so, if they put their lives on world display, sit down shut-up and take the medicine you ordered.”

1- I don’t think people are using God and Christian in order to make people believe their comment is unflappably true. As you said God gave us a brain. I tend to find when most people use that term it is because it is what the writer believes, or a description of what they are writing about, and the Duggars are strong in their faith and God and their faith is Christian. Does not mean you have to believe them, or do as they do, it is merely a description of one or both of the two things I mentioned.

2 - As often stated throughout the show and most internet sites and so on, the Duggars, have lived their lives Debt free and with never needing to be on any of the government social financial programs. The Govt. also caps how many children you can take a tax credit on. So their reproductive choices are not for any of those purposes.

3- Their eldest son Josh is married and it took a few months but yes they have A as in ONE child. On the episode where they announced it to their family when Jim Bob asked how many, Anna stated “as many as God will give us.” and Josh said “I don’t know, one or two is ok with me.” Also just as with Michelle and Jim Bob, Anna and Josh….reproductive choices are a private manner.

3- The show is not about the fact that they “leave it in God’s hands” It is merely about the family in their day to day life and their contract, although I haven’t read it, I am sure does not require that they have a baby every so many months or years, or any bonuses added for each pregnancy. It is about the family. Expanding or not, the events that they experience. Yes the initial foundation is about the large brood, and how they experience life as a large family. But they were approached by the producers not the other way around.

4 - Yes they have made a choice to be public and on TV about their family, the size, the functioning of day to day, they do speak of their faith because that is a big part of who they are. But being on TV, for this does not make their reproductive choices our business. As for politicians, the only business of theirs I want to know about is what have they done, what do they want to do, how do they want to do it. Their private lives should be allowed to keep private, unless they are breaking a law - since that is a matter of public record and can effect their ability to do their job. I understand why you think that being on TV “makes it our business” but that just isn’t so. At the beginning of this year a new law went into effect in California to reinforce this. Papparrazi (no idea how to spell that word) are barred from taking and publishing or selling pictures of any famous person(s) when it is clear they are out doing personal things. Example, going to dinner with your family, shopping, getting a cup of coffee, etc….not allowed. Red Carpet, award shows, Press Junkets, etc. allowed! If I like movies that a particular actor is in or director directed, I just want to see the movie, not know that they super-sized their meal on Saturday afternoon and 2:30pm. Again I say that I think I understand that you feel since they are willingly on a tv show about their family that they choose to make it our business. But try to see it from my point of view. What they allow to be shown and share with anyone who watches is their business and if there is something you dislike about their family, don’t watch. There is lots of other stuff to watch or go do.

However, neither you or I have to agree with their reproductive choices, or even their faith. Just as they don’t have to agree with mine or yours, in both matters.

And I promise I am not trying to convert anyone, point fingers, or demean anyone. I just thought and do hope that this post might help …..what is the term I want to use….encourage, even if just a second, a different point of view, with which you may agree or disagree with.
