New York, Mar 22 (ANI): Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn’s classic romantic adventure-’The African Queen’-has now landed on DVD.

This Tuesday, fans of the John Huston-directed romantic adventure will get the chance to see it in restored glory.

In fact, a documentary of the film’s troubled production has also been released.

But despite the hardships the crew faced in Africa, the film was a big hit, and Bogart won a Best Actor Oscar.

It took six years to restore the movie, which has been seen in murky prints for decades, reports the New York Post.

Computers digitally aligned the three negatives (which had each shrunk to different sizes) more perfectly than was possible for the original theatrical release.

Experts restored the film’s faded palette, guided by comments recorded by the film’s director of photographry, Jack Cardiff, who died last year.

Scratches, splices and thousands of dirt specks were also removed - and the soundtrack cleaned up - to produce a restoration of the classic movie. (ANI)
