‘Young Frankenstein’ to Close next January

This time the monster won’t be coming back from the dead.

After having about 500 Broadway performances , Young Frankenstein is closing. The announcement regarding the decision was made on Sunday by the producer Robert F.X. Sillerman. Young Frankenstein stars Roger Bart as the title character.

The show written by Mr. Brooks with Thomas Meehan, directed by Susan Stroman and with Shuler Hensley as the monster.

The Mel Brooks cinematic monster spoof will have played a little over a year when it closes Jan 4. Bart has been involved with the musical since it opened in November 2007 at the Hilton Theatre with 30 previews and was the most anticipated Broadway musical of last season. It is a lot shorter engagement than his previous stage effort and that musical ran for six years and more than 2,500 performances.

The show had announced a Jan. 18 closing.
