Nov 10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Yahoo may opt for a merger with Internet search company AOL Inc as some tech rumor sites are suggesting. The advisors of AOL are reportedly evaluating the various options for the deal. However, Yahoo has not said anything on its part on this and it has not been approached by AOL either. Earlier technology giant Microsoft also offered a buyout bid to Yahoo. AOL may join hands with private equity firms to buy the reputed Internet mail ad search provider as the buzz is doing the round in the tech circles.
As a matter of fact the talks of merger between these two companies have surfaced in the past though nothing materialized at those times. However, the media sources report that this time the plans are being made on a more serious level. A spokesperson for AOL said in an interview to a reputed media entity “We have a significant strategy and are aggressively executing our plan to build a company for the next phase of the Internet”. If the merger between the two companies take place it will result in increased digital marketing endeavors targeted at the third party advertisers. Bank Of America has reportedly been tapped by AOL to find out strategic options for the merger.
However, sources close to both the company said that the developments are at an early stage and nothing can be said with certainty. The rumor of the Yahoo AOL merger may also affect the stocks of the respective companies in near future think the experts. Yahoo is very selective about its partners and would not opt for a deal all of a sudden.
