Workers on strike again at Maruti’s Manesar plant
October 7th, 2011 - 8:27 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 7 (IANS) Workers at automobile giant Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar plant in Haryana went on strike Friday, stalling production.
“The workers went on strike this afternoon,” a Maruti Suzuki official told IANS adding that negotiations were on to resolve the issue.
Workers at the same plant had gone on a strike from Aug 29 to Oct 1.
The company which leads the automobile sector in terms of sales had earlier reported a sales decline of 20.8 percent due to labour issues in September. Its sales for the month stood at 85,565 units as against 108,006 units in the same period of last fiscal.
According to the company, the disruption in its production facility in Manesar, due to labour issues, severely impacted sales and distribution.
The plant manufactures Swift, SX4 and A-Star models.
