Work on Smart City Kochi to start Saturday
October 4th, 2011 - 3:14 pm ICT by IANSThiruvananthapuram, Oct 4 (IANS) Work on the long delayed Kochi Smart City IT project would begin later this week, IT Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty said in the Kerala Assembly Tuesday.
The IT minister said the foundation stone for a 1.50 lakh square feet building would be laid on Saturday, signalling the official launch of the mega IT project.
“Our aim is to see that this mega IT project gets live and kicking at the earliest,” said Kunhalikutty.
The mega project, coming up on 250 acres of land in Kochi, is expected to provide close to 100,000 jobs.
