Wipro unveils data centres for SME businesses
August 16th, 2010 - 10:26 pm ICT by IANSBangalore, Aug 16 (IANS) Wipro’s IT and business transformation services division has designed ‘FluidState’ data centres for small and medium enterprise (SME) businesses offering faster deployment, flexibility and efficiency, the IT bellwether said Monday.
“Our next-generation data centres are pre-designed and pre-fabricated for setting them up in less than a week as against two-three months taken by a conventional data centre,” Wipro vice-president and professional services division head Achuthan Nair said in a statement here.
Powered by Cisco, HP, Hitachi and EMC technologies, the FluidState data centre offers a contemporary modular design, optimised for efficiency, cooling, power and space. The modular design enables the enterprise to upgrade or downgrade the centre without any downtime.
“FluidState provides a greener data centre in terms of a unified computing environment with 24×7 lights out operation, capacity on demand, four times higher density per rack, up to 40 percent lower cooling cost and reduced carbon footprint,” Nair said.
The data centre framework is available in four models — Nano, Standard, Enterprise and Enterprise Plus and is designed for deployment both indoors and outdoors.
“We also provide hosting, consulting and design, implementation and integration, management and consolidation besides 24X7 support on the equipment with remote integration capability,” Nair pointed out.
In view of the unprecedented growth in data and need for increased computing power in data centres, the global software major has come out with a simple solution whereby businesses can easily deploy data centers in the shortest possible time, the statement noted.
The company has already implemented the FluidState data centre for the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIMB).
