Siliguri (West Bengal), Oct 4 (IANS) Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee Sunday announced a new train service between this northern West Bengal town and the coastal tourist destination of Digha in East Midnapore from Monday.
“We’ll flag off a new train from Siliguri to Digha tomorrow (Monday), which will connect two tourist spots of the state. The train service will enhance connectivity between the hills and the coastal tourism belt in the state,” Banerjee said while laying the foundation stone of a multifunctional complex at Siliguri railway station.
“We also have plans to run small rail buses from Siliguri to Bagdogra station. A railway museum will also be set up at Cooch Behar soon,” she said, spelling out other plans of her ministry.
Banerjee flagged off a super-fast train from New Jalpaiguri to Sealdah that will run thrice a week.
