Wal-Mart Recalls 900,000 GE Coffee Makers

New York, May 21, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Wal-Mart has gone ahead to have issue a recall for GE coffee makers. Reportedly, this very recall is speculated to be spoiler to the company stocks over 900,000 units. The recall was issued soon after GE received a complaint from the Consumer Product Safety Commission which said that the coffeemakers were defected. The reports said that there has been over 100 cases where the appliance got overheated and smelted. In certain cases, the appliance was excessively heated to give rise to flames. It was also mentioned in the report that the person handling the appliance burned their hands and their feet and it also gave rise to kitchen fire where cabinets were destroyed. As an obvious consequence, the damages of the kitchen tops and cabinets has been filed under property destruction.
The recall includes model numbers 169164 and 169165. Both these models are GE 12 Cup digital coffeemaker. These coffee machines were offered in black and white color and carries a programmable option. The buyers of the coffee machines have been asked to handover the machines to their nearby Wal-Mart store.
There is no need for any kind of purchase receipts at the time of handover but all those who have made an online purchase can still refer to their purchase slip through the website of Walmart. GE spokesperson told the media that all customers who had purchased GE Coffeemakers of model 169164 and 169165 have been asked on an urgent note to keep aside the machine and stop using it immediately. They should bring them over to the Walmart store and take their refund money.
