VSA LLC to invest $4.5 million in Burke County, NC production plant
May 12th, 2010 - 12:29 am ICT by BNO NewsRALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA (BNO NEWS) – VSA LLC, a recycler of automotive catalytic converters, will invest $4.5 million in its new production plant in Burke County, North Carolina, Governor Beverly Perdue announced on Tuesday.
The company, which has its headquarters in Morganton of Burke County, expects to create 98 jobs during the next two years. It also has a pilot plant in the city but plans to expand to a larger facility in Morganton for full-scale industrial operations.
“We selected Morganton, N.C., for its proximity to major highways and because it has one of the cheapest energy costs in the country. We were also pleased by the low property taxes, abundance of industrial space, a highly qualified workforce and city, county and state business incentive programs,” said VSA Financial Director Alex Styagov.
VSA dedicates to the research and development of recycling process for catalytic converters, which are devices that reduce toxic emissions from internal combustion engines. The new jobs will have an average annual wage of $30,186 without benefits. This is higher than the average annual wage of $28,964 in Burke County.
