Vietnamese president visits Infosys campus

Pratibha Patil Bangalore, Oct 11 (IANS) Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang Tuesday visited India’s second largest IT bellwether Infosys on his day’s visit to Bangalore.

Accompanied by his spouse Mai Thi Hanh and an official delegation, Truong was taken around the sprawling green campus in the electronics city, about 30 km away from the city centre, by the global software major’s vice-chairman S. Gopalakrishnan.

“The president evinced keen interest to know firsthand our operations, the global delivery model and the kind of projects we do for our clients worldwide,” a company official told IANS.

Truong, who is on a four-day official visit to India at the invitation of President Pratibha Patil, earlier met Karnataka Governor H.R. Bhardwaj, Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda and select dignitaries over a lunch hosted at Raj Bhavan in his honour.

“The president discussed areas of cooperation between the two countries and explored avenues for promoting bilateral relations. He was also briefed on the development activities in the state,” a Raj Bhavan official said.

Later, Truong left for New Delhi for official talks with the president and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Wednesday.
