Use current reservation counter, urges Railways
February 13th, 2012 - 8:29 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Feb 13 (IANS) In order to check misuse of the current reservation counter by touts, the Railways Monday advised passengers travelling on a short notice to use the facility.
“The is lack of public awareness about the facility… it is misused by unscrupulous elements for providing confirmed berth to passengers at a premium by using the current counter facility,” said a railway official.
He said that vacant seats available on a train after the reservation chart has been prepared can be booked at the current counters of the originating stations up to a specified time before departure of the train.
A reserved ticket can be booked across the passenger reservation system counters all over the country as well as through internet only up to the time of preparation of reservation charts.
After the reservation charts have been prepared, the berths available, if any, can be booked at the current counter available at the major stations.
The reservation charts are normally prepared three to four hours before the scheduled departure of a train.
In case of trains leaving early morning, the charts are prepared on the previous night.
